Installing a Printer

Select System Preferences from the Apple menu.

Click the Print & Fax icon.

Click the + icon to add a new printer.

(1) Select "HP Jet Direct - Socket" from the Protocol drop-down menu.
(2) Enter "escher.gs.washington.edu" into the Address text field. If you'd like to add the color printer, just use picasso.gs.washington.edu instead.
(3) Enter a name into the Name text field. Here we chose escher, but you can choose whatever you like.
(4) Select "HP" from the Print Using drop-down.
(5) Select "HP Laser Jet 4250" from the Model scrolling list. If you'd like to add the color printer, use "HP Color LaserJet 4700." If the appropriate model is not on your list, you may select "Generic PostScript" from the Print Using drop-down menu.
(6) Click the Add button.

Your printer is now ready for use.
